The Minister of International Relations and Cooperations , Naledi Pandor said that South Africa respected the necessary precautions that had been taken by countries to ensure safety for their citizens .However , she said that it had to be remembered that the pandemic was an international problem that required collaboration .She went on ad revealed her concerns regarding the negative impact the travel restrictions would have on the tourism , businesses and the people generally .
The new Covid-19 variant was detected in South Africa and announced during the week . There are some cases that have already been detected and more research is being carried out .
