Intercity passenger train service, the Shosholoza Meyl, South Africa’s long-distance will resume traveling. The line that will be opened first will be the johannesburg line, scheduled to leave Cape Town on Friday 4 December 2020
The Shosholoza Meyl travels to Cape Town, Durban, East London, Port Elizabeth, Musina, Polokwane, Komatipoort and Queenstown and johannesburg, because of the Covid they are still restricted but only running on weekends. They adhere to no mask no ride principle. We make sure people are OK. They will have coaches that are dedicated to people with symptoms. Sosholoza Meyl is not affected by vandalism like Prasa because it is using different network of transnet. No vandalizing on the transnet lines it is only the prasa line.
From Johannesburg to Durban, it costs R170 for an economy class and R360 in the tourist carriage. Johannesburg and Komatipoort is R190 for economy class and R270 as a tourist carriage. The trip between Johannesburg and Musina is R190 in economy class and R310 in the tourist carriage.
