Many people have high expectations for persons who live overseas, believing that when they return to their own country, they should be wealthy. Don Otieno, on the other hand, told how he lived in America for 12 years before returning to Kenya with a duffle bag and no money.
He had gone to America to study, but he stayed there for many years after his visa had expired. He assumed that no one would notice his illegal stay, but immigration agents arrived at his workplace one day to arrest him.
He was detained and offered the option of being deported back to Kenya or filing an appeal to stay in the United States. After after deliberation and consideration, he decided that returning to Kenya was the better option.
Don gave up everything, including the house he'd recently purchased and the money he'd been saving for the past 12 years. He had to deal with being evaluated by others who expected him to be wealthy, and he had to start over.
Don built a successful business and also serves as a men's counsel in concerns of marriage. He is the author of the book 'The Re-wired Man,' which is intended to help men become better husbands.
