This comes after plans were revealed for the National Migration, Diaspora, and Migration policies that will be drafted by Zimbabwe. These plans were revealed reportedly by the Ministry of Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage over the weekend. The ministry revealed that Zimbabwe was having many undocumented people passing through from different nations. As part of measures to block the irregular movement of undocumented immigrants via Zimbabwe into South Africa and the rest of African nations, it was realized that there was a need for some policies to control the movement.
Zimbabwean borders were declared as being porous by the South African Minister of Home Affairs Dr. Aaron Motsoaledi. This was because of the high number of illegal immigrants that make their way into South Africa daily. It is great that Zimbabwe noticed the irregular inflows of undocumented people in South Africa and other neighboring countries. It is the entry of these illegal immigrants into South Africa via Zimbabwe which is contributing to several social problems in South Africa.
When some of the undocumented immigrants make their way into South Africa, they find themselves without jobs and end up indulging in illegal activities. These may include activities such as crimes or even prostitution at times as they will be trying to make ends meet.Zimbabwe has a huge role in helping South Africa with restricting the flow of undocumented people if the policy is successfully implemented.
This initiative needs to be supported by other Southern African countries whose borders are connected to South Africa. This will help restrict the movement of illegal immigrants into South Africa and help avoid the occurrence of crimes and other social problems.
