Adriatic highway passes through three countries and is mainly located in Croatia. The scenery along the way is stunning. But don’t be distracted by the view, as it’s easier to fall straight into the sea than any other place.

2. Furka Pass - Switzerland

This highway lies in the Swiss Alps and has an elevation of 2,429 meters (7,969ft). It appeared in the 1964 James Bond film Goldfinger due to its beautiful landscape and steep road.

The beautiful scenery along the Atlantic road might distract you. But you must be careful, as this road can be deadly with all its hairpin turns and crazy slopes.

9. Sichuan-Tibet Highway - China

The 2412-kilometer long Sichuan-Tibet Highway stretches across 14 high mountains and several turbulent rivers. Its average height is over 4,000 meters. It starts from the eastern edge of Tibetan Plateau and ends in Lhasa, the capital city of Tibet.

10. Stelvio Pass - Italy

The Stelvio Pass has an average height of 2,757m (9,045ft), the highest mountain pass in the Eastern Alps. The road can take you from Bormio to Prato Allo Stelvio in a thrilling 40 minutes, but you must be fully concentrated to make sure not to fall off the mountain!

11. Yungas Road - Bolivia

Built in 1930, this road is not used as much as it used to be, but hikers still love traveling along the trail. They take the trip here for fun, but it can also be deadly. More than 200 people have lost their lives here due to the terrible weather conditions and the mudslides.

The sketchy road was built 40 years ago, and it’s still in good condition. It connects two cities of Afghanistan, and its traffic is quite heavy. What makes it more dangerous is that there is no speed limit.

Kuandinsky is thought to be one of the ricketiest bridges in the world. The bridge is only wide enough to fit one car, and it has no railings and wooden planks. What makes it even more dangerous is that you may even get stuck in a snowstorm.

This highway was closed due to the heavy monsoon and landslides in 2010, and wasreopened three months later. It is estimated that 85 percent of the road is still unsafe. Be sure to go through this highway quickly because you have a good chance of getting hit by the falling rocks.

17. Dalton Highway - United States

This highway is in Alaska, where the weather is extremely icy and capricious, and it’s in an area that is sparsely populated. It starts at the Elliott Highway and ends at Deadhorse. There are only giant trucks passing through most of the time.

This road is of vital importance to the Indian Army. So it is well maintained, and the road conditions are usually good. But the frequent landslides can make the road dangerous. Plus, people are more likely to suffer altitude sickness here.

23. Colorado 550 - United States

This road is also frequently called the “Million Dollar Way” due to the enormous maintenance costs. It is a two-lane highway, running from Bernalillo, New Mexico to Montrose, Colorado.

24. Karakoram Highway - Pakistan, China

The Karakoram Highway, also known as the China-Pakistan Friendship Highway, stretches from Hasan Abdal in Pakistan to Kashgar in China. It’s a road known for its scenic views, border-less cliffs and landslides.

25. Cat and Fiddle Road - England

This road is one of the most perilous roads in the UK because of its sharp incline and declines. Actually, the road has another name, the “widow mak.”
