Capitec releases statement detailing why the app is down and alternative methods to clients on how they can access their money
The Capitec banking app has been down for over 24 hours, the problem began on Thursday the 4th of August 2022, when the users of the bank were unable to access the baking app.
This has caused disruptions and inconvenience to its customers as well as business owners, who rely on the bank for transactions.
Capitec is the second largest bank in South Africa and was founded in 2001, it offers its clients low transaction fees and as a result attracts large customer base.
The problem that Capitec is facing has been stated to be infrastructural problems and technical difficulties that are causing the application to crash.
In the statement, the Capitec bank apologized profusely for the inconvenience and assured it users that their technical team is working tirelessly to ensure that the problem will be resolved.
Ways to access your money and transact while the Capitec App is offline :
1. Capitec branch
- If an individual has an emergency or needs to access their money, they are advised to go to the nearest Capitec bank to receive assistance from the customer care inside the bank.
- the Capitec ATMs are working effectively and with no disruptions, this option is available to people who would like to withdraw money or deposit money.
3. Cellphone Banking
The cellphone banking option is also active individuals can perform transactions by using the USSD transaction code available to them.
Even though the technical glitch is causing a lot of inconveniences to Capitec users, the company is working tirelessly to fix the problem and reinstate the application. The team has also given users alternative solutions and ways to access their money and perform transactions.
