For those who hoped that we would see less loadshedding or no loadshedding during the coming week, unfortunately you may be dissapointed, as Eskom has just announced that stage 6 loadshedding will begin again. This was done via a statement to their Facebook page, below I will give you all the details, as well as tell you how to prepare.
The announcement :
In a statement titled "Power Alert 1" Eskom has announced that stage 6 Loadshedding be implemented on Monday afternoon, with varying stages of loadshedding throughout the rest of the week.
Tips to Prepare :
Eskom has said that Loadshedding is a last resort to protect the national power grid, regardless because of it's frequency it has to be prepared for, Here are some tips.
During this time I urge you to always keep your cellphone fully charged, by constantly having it plugged into a wall outlet, power bank or car charger when you are close to one. This will ensure that your phone is ready in case of an emergency when the power turns off.
Keep a battery powered torch or candles in a place where it will be easy to find in the dark, also have a spare set of batteries if you are keeping a torch and never leave candles unattended as they could turn into a fire hazard.
Keep boiled water in a thermos flask to make your hot drinks when the power goes out and keep cold water in the fridge to make your chilled drinks.
Finally, remember to check your loadshedding schedule and cook your meals beforehand, as if you don't you will have to cook them on a fire or order out.
