After parting ways with the Eastern cape side, Chippa United, Gavin Hunt has been struggling to find a new club in the Premier Soccer League or abroad.
However, it is believed that the South African coach could be appointed as the new head coach of SuperSport United before the season starts.
SuperSport United has been without a coach since earlier this year after parting ways with the Zimbabwean coach Kaitano Tembo.
Kaitano Tembo was then appointed by the Gauteng side, Sekhukhune United as the replacement of Owen Da Gama.
Andre Arendse, who was the interim coach at the Tshwane side after the club decided to release Tembo due to poor performance.
