After having failed to help Polokwane City and Black Leopards avoid relegation, new TS Galaxy striker Mohammed Anas have set himself a target of becoming a Lesley Manyathela Golden Boot winner as South African football returns this coming weekend.
Anas who became infamous a few seasons ago when he thanked his girlfriend and wife after he was named man of the match while he was still playing for Maritzburg United, excitement got the better of him and he sold himself out, he feels it is his time to Shine since he will be surrounded by the best in football, including former Bafana Bafana striker Shaun Bartlett.
“That is my aim since I came to South Africa.I think I’m capable of winning the Golden Boot. If you check from 2016 the top scorer in the league has managed 15, 13 or 12 goals. Being around coach Shaun [Bartlett] is beneficial and my target for this season is to score 15 goals and that is what I am working towards,” he said.
Ever since he came to South Africa in 2014, the former Polokwane City striker has only managed to score 32 goal in 125 games which he played across a total of four teams in seven years with the most recent being Black Leopards which he relegated.
For Ḽi ḒoḒa Ḓuvha he only score two goals in Seven appear before they were chopped off to the GladAfrica Championship League during the 2020/21 season after they finished rock bottom on the log.
The 27 year old Ghananian will have to turn things around and start banging in the goals to achieve what he feels is not much of a task, given his scoring record, one doubts his abilities as a striker, but he is confident enough to be amongst those who will be challenging for the Golden Boot this season.
