Former Orlando Pirates coach in the same boat as Egypt boss

Fans were disappointed after Egypt advanced to the final but were unable to defeat Senegal, who were led by Sadio Mane.

De Sa expressed uncertainty about Egypt's future, but said that Egypt's top leader is in the same boat.

"I have a contract with Egypt's national team until June or July, and then we'll see what happens." KickOff spoke with De Sa.

"I'm in the same boat as the head coach; we're both under the same contract."

De Sa joined the Egypt team as a free agent after leaving GladAfrica Championship side Cape Town All Stars in 2021.

He worked with Queiroz while the former Bafana Bafana coach was the Portugal manager, and he is known to have a close working connection with him.

Egypt has great expectations, especially with probably the best attacking player in the world among its ranks.

Egypt is the most successful nation in the history of the African Football Confederation. They have seven league titles under their belt, but haven't won the cup since 2010.

DESPERATE FOR SUCCESS

They were knocked out of the tournament in the quarterfinals when they hosted it in 2019. Following a 1-0 defeat to South Africa.

Much of the dissatisfaction among Egyptian fans derives from their team's performance during the World Cup.

Between 1990 and 2018, Egypt failed to qualify for any of the six World Cups.

In March, the Pharaohs will play Senegal in a pair of high-stakes contests. The victor of the two-legged match will advance to the World Cup in 2022.
