The DStv Premiership match between Kaizer Chiefs and Cape Town City was postponed when the home team failed to arrive at the stadium, with the Cape side being shut out of FNB Stadium, according to the club.

Here is an in-depth outline of the PSL laws that Kaizer Chiefs violated, as well as the punishment that the club would face as a result of the team's failure to honor a DStv Premiership match.

In honoring the game by arriving 90 minutes before kick-off, the Citizens verified that they had fulfilled all of the appropriate matchday procedures.

Despite this, Kaizer Chiefs were a no-show, with the stadium doors being sensationally closed and the away team being denied access.

Amakhosi made two public remarks, the first of which was a plea to the Premier League to postpone their December fixtures. While simultaneously announcing that it would be unable to host Saturday's match due to a wave of positive Covid-19 cases, the club also stated that it would not be able to host the match.

After a minimum of 31 club personnel and staff tested positive for Covid-19, the club was compelled to close its Naturena training site, which resulted in the shutdown of the facility.

The PSL Handbook guidelines are listed below in their entirety. Due to the club's failure to show up for Saturday's league match, they will face a severe penalty.

Article 9 of the PSL guidebook outlines the dates and locations of matches.

9.2 It is the responsibility of the home club to ensure that every match is staged in accordance with the NSL Handbook and all applicable legislation.

9.4 In the event of unforeseen circumstances, the league may postpone a match at any moment prior to the scheduled start time.

In accordance with Rule 9.5, the league may change the date of a fixture, provided that sufficient notification of the rescheduled event is given to the participating member clubs.

9.6. Member clubs will be notified in writing by the league of all fixtures and fixture alterations no later than 120 hours prior to the start of the match, with the exception that the notice time may be reduced in the following circumstances at the discretion of the league:

Where both the league and the member clubs playing in the match agree to a shorter notice period, 9.6.1.

9.6.2. In the event that a match is abandoned by the referee, regardless of whether the contest has begun;

9.6.3 In the event that a match is postponed by the league in accordance with rule 9.4; or 9.6.4 In the event that the chief executive officer considers the situation to be extraordinary.

In order for a fixture change to be approved, a member club must make a written request to the league at least 10 days before to the game in question using the league's standard form, which must be supported by all of the necessary supporting documentation. The league has the authority to grant or deny the request at its discretion.

The NSL Covid-19 health procedure manual for the season 2021/22 is now available.

Specifically, this is a directive from the league's executive committee, which was issued in accordance with regulation 18.1 of the NSL Handbook. It speaks of compliance with regulations and directions. As a result, the health protocol handbook is required and legally binding, and will remain so until withdrawn or altered by the executive committee. In the section under "action plan for Covid-19-positive cases," "Appendix C contains the following information:

• All close contacts should be quarantined or self-isolated from the last exposure, depending on the risk. For track-and-trace and testing purposes, a contact list should be supplied with the lab and the National Institute for Communicable Diseases. Those who have had close contact are required to adhere to isolation guidelines for a period of 10 days. Other contacts have to be watched and tested if they show signs of illness.

• Close contact is defined as the absence of masks, contact lasting more than 15 minutes (overall), and contact occurring indoors.

According to official protocols, all of Kaizer Chiefs' players, members of the technical team, and employees who are deemed primary contacts have been told to confine themselves until further notice.

Possible punishment:

In the previous season, the PSL established a precedent by sanctioning two clubs for identical Covid-19-related offenses.

Polokwane City has been deducted three points and fined R100 000.

a team for the GladAfrica Championship The PSL Disciplinary Committee docked Rise & Shine three points for failing to comply with the league's rule requiring them to have a roster of at least five Under-23 players.

Due to positive Covid-19 cases, the DC neglected to take into consideration Polokwane's depleted team when making his decision. A R100 000 fine with a one-year suspension was also imposed on the club.

Cape Umoya United was fined three points for their actions.

Furthermore, Cape Umoya, a second division team that had been destroyed by Covid-19 cases, was deducted points for failing to show up for their match.

Points docked by the Royal Morning, fine

Royal AM were penalised points and fined severely for failing to comply with the PSL's promotion playoffs last season, resulting in a stalemate that has yet to be resolved.

"Royal AM was fined the maximum amount permitted by the NSL Rules, which was R1 million each match (a total of R4 million), with R700 000 of each punishment (a total of R2.8 million) postponed for two years on the condition that it did not fail to honor any NSL matches during the time of suspension.

"In addition, the club was penalized with a three-point deduction for each game that was not played (12 points in total) for the remainder of the current season. This deduction was also deferred for one year, under the condition that it did not fail to honor any National Soccer League fixtures during the period of suspension."

In a similar vein, Kaizer Chiefs might potentially be penalized for a price that ranges from a modest R100 000 to an enormous R1 million depending on the outcome of a disciplinary process.
