Richards believes his previous club will perform far better than last season, but he cannot predict whether they will win the league title.
"I believe the Chiefs will have a successful season, but I do not believe they will win the league. We'll have to wait and see how they do in the first few games "Richards explained to the Siya crew.
"As I mentioned, we'll have to see as the season progresses, but the Sundowns still have more depth and experience to dominate the league."
The former KZN player also has high expectations for AmaZulu, Golden Arrows, Maritzburg United, and Royal AM this season, believing they will compete for a top eight berth.
"In terms of KZN teams, I believe they will do well and finish in the top eight. The province is poised for another another fascinating season."
