Sundowns have been advised to sign more players in the upcoming transfer window, here is why

Mamelodi Sundowns might be successful in the DStv Premiership, but there's still challenges that they're facing which have been exploited by other opponents. It might as well been one of the major reasons why Sundowns were knocked out of the CAF Champions League quarter-finals by Petros de Luanda a few weeks ago. After watching most of their games this season, now their former star player has decided to offer free advise to the current technical team with regards to their upcoming transfer window. "I think there is a need to go into the market. I think Mamelodi Sundowns struggled this season with centre backs," said Teko Modise's advice to Mamelodi Sundowns, as quoted by Soccer Laduma.

Sundowns have seen a number of central defender being chopped and changed by the the coaches Manqoba Mngqithi, Rulani Mokwena and Steve Komphela. As they've been hit with different injuries at Chloorkop, this affected the structure of the squad at the back. "You've seen a lot of changes with the centre backs and you've seen the injuries they've had. There's balance in midfield, but there's always a question with the centre backs... That became critical when it came to the Champions League, where if they had the most consistent centre back pairing, they could have defended a bit better," Modise said recently when asked by the Siya crew.

It's still unknown which central defenders Downs can sign as they've already got the likes of Grant Kekana, Brian Onyango, Mosa Lebusa, Rivaldo Coetzee, Divine Lunga and also, Rushine de Reuck. Over the last couple of weeks, Masandawana have been linked with Golden Arrows skipper Nkosinathi Sibisi.
