Opinion: 1 Striker Arsenal Should Sign In January

Arsenal are prepared to spend big in the January transfer window, according to reports in Italy, with the London club interested in signing Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic.

For some time now, the Premier League giants have been linked with the towering Serbia international, but rumors and reports continue to circulate as the January transfer window approaches.

According to TuttoSport, Arsenal is preparing to outbid Juventus for the striker, who many believe is a step up from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette.

However, how good is Vlahovic, and is he the right replacement for Lacazette at Arsenal?

Vlahovic joined Fiorentina in 2018 and has steadily progressed to become one of the top players in Serie A over the last three years.

While he struggled to score a goal in his first ten league games with the club, Vlahovic found his stride in the 2019/20 season, scoring nine goals in 35 games across all competitions.

Last season, Serbian talent, on the other hand, truly came into his own, scoring 21 goals in 40 appearances for the Italian club. And he's been even better this season, with 14 goals in his first 16 games.

Is he a good replacement for Lacazette?

While it is impossible to predict whether a player can completely replace another, Vlahovic appears to have all of the ingredients to be a perfect replacement for Lacazette at Arsenal.

For Arsenal, Lacazette frequently plays as a poacher or shadow striker, which means he is excellent at linking up play outside the opposition's box but can also find space within it to finish moves.

Fortunately for the London club, this is exactly the role Vlahovic has been filling for Fiorentina in Serie A this season, and the young attacker would not struggle to fill the shoes of his French counterpart in Arteta's side.
