Losing the CAF Confederations cup final against RS Berkane at Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Nigeria might have motivated Orlando Pirates to do better on their remaining DStv Premiership games, as they managed to defeat Maritzburg United by 4-1 at Orlando Stadium on Tuesday evening. The Orlando Pirates technical team decided to continue with the same players who were playing at the CAF final, and they were wise on their decision because Orlando Pirates are now two steps away to be playing at the CAF Champions League next season.
What the technical team of Mandla Ncikazi and Fadlu Davids is doing, they could be using the remaining games to test their best attacking options for the next season, and by the look at things it seems like they have decided that the multi national attacking option which includes Thembinkosi Lorch, Deon Hotto and Kwame Peprah is something they have decided upon until beyond.
Orlando Pirates were fired up on this match from the early minutes as their attacking tactics proved to be superior against the defense of Maritzburg United, Thembinkosi Lorch managed to find the back of the net on the 21st minute with a beautiful goal after he picked up an assistant from Hotto.
Thembinkosi Lorch came back strong once again, but this time around he created an assist for Kwame Peprah who scored the second goal for the Buccaneers moments before the second half.
When the second half commenced it was Orlando Pirates once again who oroved to be a dominant side as Deon Hotto scored the third goal of the match and made it 3-0 for the Buccaneers, and it was Thembinkosi Lorch again who created the goal. Maritzburg United found a goal through Friday Samu, but that was not enough to stop the might of Orlando Pirates as Kabelo Dlamini nailed the fourth goal against the KZN outfit after picking up a cross from Thembinkosi Lorch.
