Lamontville Golden Arrows took all 3 points when they beat TS Galaxy; giving them a shot at the CAF

LAMONTVILLE Golden Arrows; strengthened their hopes of playing in the CAF Confederation Cup; when it thrashed TS Galaxy in the DStv Premiership; at the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium; in Clermont yesterday afternoon.

Golden Arrows' goals came from Michael Gumede, Pule Mmodi and Ntsako Makhubela in each instance.

Arrows entered the pitch looking to get points to sit at number 3 of the log; to reserve its place in the CAF Confederation Cup next season.

Before yesterday's match; Abafana Bes'thende had played four games without winning.

Though Arrows is ahead with two games from Orlando Pirates; who are close on their heels; picking three points yeterday; put it in a position to play in the CAF; for the first time in its history.

Everything now leans on the two games left for Arrows to close the season; and the four games left for Orlando Pirates.

Other teams who stand a chance to steal the joy away from Arrows; are Swallows and SuperSport United. The team that will finish in third place; will prooceed to play at the Confederation Cup.

Nevertheless; yesterday Arrows showed from the beginning that they want all three points. From the kick-off; it looked like Galaxy will be able to stop Arrows; by blocking all spots; but quick lows from the Lamontvilke boys; confused Galaxy.

Six minutes into the game; Gumede found the back of the net after a smooth pass on the left from Devine Lunga.

After the goal; Arrows continued to put pressure on Galaxy; in 32 minutes Mmodi; switched off the ball he was given by Ntsako Makhubela; outside the box; and slammed it; hitting the back of the net once more; Marlon Heugh; TS Galaxy Keeper; went flying in vain.

During the second round; Arrows continued to have their free reign but the first chance to a goal fell on Galaxy; Mxolisi Macuphu who had just entered the pitch; kicked a free kick; but Arrows Keeper; Sifiso Mlungwana blocked it.

During the 61st minute the back of the net was hit again when Makhubela dived for a ball curved by Nduduzo Sibiya; and put it inside with a header.

Arrows finished the match with 10 players; after Sibiya got his second yellow card on the 89th minute; which sent him packing from the pitch.
