Khune Finally Talks About Retirement

After having spent the better part of the 2021/22 DStv Premiership season on the sidelines, Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune returned to action last weekend when he helped thebWarriors FC to beat Amabutho FC and qualify to play in the final of the DStv Compact Cup, he played so well and made a couple of good saves and his fans were happy to see him back in action, they even started calling for Stuart Baxter to start considering to use the former Bafana Bafana skipper more often since he showed that he still has what it takes to play regularly.

Since he hasn't been playing this season, some fans had already started talkinabout retirement, but Khune has finally broken the silence about when he is going to retire and it seems it is not anytime soon.

Speaking to the media ahead of the DStv Compact Cup final, the 34 year old revealed that he has no plans of retirement at the moment, he said he still has 10 years to play, that means he will rwitre at 44 in 2032, he also said he spend a lot of his time in the gym he invested in at his home, he said his body is his Investment and he has to make sure that he is always in good shape.

“I will retire when I am older than Buffon. I will retire after him. I still have maybe 10 more years. To be quite honest, I am making a good investment in myself by investing in a gym at home. I do a lot of extras at my work place and even when I get home I am motivated to do extra (work), so that I can improve myself and be in good shape. My body is my investment. When I invest in my body, it can take me until I am over 40. That’s what I am praying for,” he said.

The former Bafana Bafana captain last played for Chiefs in August during the MTN 8 game against Mamelodi Sundowns.
