Chiefs still need Khune as a player

Khune, who turns 35 in less than a week, has reached a fork in the road after appearing only once last season, resulting in his worst season with the Chiefs since making his first-team debut in 2007.

His contract situation has come under investigation, especially given his package, which includes the prospect of promoting him to a technical job, which would make financial sense for the club.

"We must never underestimate the value of experience, especially in a position as delicate as goalkeeping, where a single error can determine the outcome of a game." Instead of pushing our experienced goalkeepers, why can't we be inspired by (Gianluigi) Buffon and Essam El Hadary?" Avril 'Tshawe' Phali, a retired goalkeeper, tells KickOff.com.

"I honestly believe the Chiefs still require Khune in their playing roster, despite the fact that some may believe otherwise because he did not play last season."

"The Chiefs have already released Daniel Akpeyi, therefore they must keep Khune regardless of their plans to bring in youth.

"Take a look at the goalkeeping department of a successful team like Sundowns, with whom Chiefs must compete, and you'll see what I'm talking about when I say goalkeeping."
