Pirates are having second thoughts about their loaned star

Orlando Pirates have struggled with injuries in the past couple of seasons, especially when it comes to their key players. This isn’t something that the technical team has been pleased about, unfortunately, they don’t have control over it. Injuries are part of the game, but it becomes a huge problem when it’s a long term injury. Pirates have had to come up with alternatives to sort out their current challenges. Hence, they’re thinking about bringing back their loaned star, following the whole injury list.

The Buccaneers need players that can come into the starting eleven and deliver what’s required from them, especially in the absence of a regular player. One thing that the technical team has been vocal about is their injury list, which included the likes of Vincent Pule, Thembinkosi Lorch, Zakhele Lepasa, amongst others. What made it even more painful for Pirates was that they were mostly missing their attacking players. Hence, they’ve been struggling to score goals in the DStv Premiership. This is something that Pirates interim co-coaches Fadlu Davids and Mandla Ncikazi want to resolve in time. Knowingly that they have a hectic schedule since they’re competing in the CAF Confederation Cup too.

Now, it has been reported that both Ncikazi and Davids have spoken to the management about bringing back Monnapule Saleng from his loan deal at Swallows FC. As they felt that he will add a bit of creativity within their attack. After all, the Buccaneers have had a lot of injuries and Saleng has proven that he’s a superb player. “They were not in charge when the decision to send him on loan was taken. But when [Vincent] Pule got injured they saw that Saleng could have come handy for the playmaker position as they were left without one. And with [Thembinkosi] Lorch also injury prone, they need a young player to be their understudy and Saleng is a perfect fit,” said the source speaking to the Citizen.
