Luka Modric of Real Madrid picks his choice for the Ballon d'Or in 2021.
Luka Modric, a Real Madrid player, has predicted teammate Karim Benzema to win the Ballon d'Or in 2021, ahead of Lionel Messi, Robert Lewandowski, and Jorginho. The Croatian won the Ballon d'Or in 2018 following a stellar season for both club and country, so he's no stranger to the prestigious award. When asked about the trophy, Modric praised his Real Madrid teammate's chances, while also acknowledging that the Ballon d'Or may go to a number of other players this year.
"We'll see." There are a number of candidates who could win. Karim is one among them in my opinion. I hope he wins because he is deserving of it based on his performance this year and his trajectory."
"Above all, the last several years." He's always been at the top of his game. He's also won a title with France, which is significant in these competitions. I sincerely hope he wins because he is deserving."
