Bontle Molefe, who was part of the Chiefs squad that was in a two-week camp at Naturena and Cape Town after Itumeleng Khune couldn't make it due to Dstv Compact Cup commitments, Keletso Sifama, who returned from a supposed season-long loan that was cut short by Pretoria Calliers Football Club, and Mduduzi Shabalala, who was also a part of Dstv Compact Cup side the Warriors Football Club.
Chiefs were anticipated to win over Maritzburg United Football Club in a match played at Harry Gwala Stadium, and they started the match like a team looking for three points, as only goals were missing in an interesting first-half.
The second half began well for the home team, as Sithembile Ngcobo gave them the lead in the 52nd minute. Shabalala equalized for Chiefs in the 68th minute, but Emanuel Carnell sealed the victory for the team of choice with an 84th-minute winner.
