Full backs (Right Back and left back) tend to emerge as one of the busiest players on the field, having to be a defender while having to add numbers foward when the team is attacking. Not scoring much, full backs can be vital in terms of crosses, earl balls, deadly crosses can be a stinger to the opposition.
Kaizer Chiefs left back Sifiso Hlanti is one defender that is also known for his attacking attributes since he was a Bidvest Wits player ( in time of their existence). When his team is attacking, Hlanti will also join in on the edge of the field to deliver crosses then drift back to defensive duties.
To everyone's surprise, resisting the stats after just 6 League games played, Sifiso Hlanti has emerged as Kaizer Chiefs' best player in terms of attacking play. This is a surprise give the attacking quality Kaizer Chiefs has. The likes of Keagan Dolly and Khama Billiat are the ones who were expected to have more goal contributions.
Sifiso Hlanti's 1 goal and single assist thus far puts him well ahead at Naturena as he has a total of 2 goal contributions in the league, which is more than any other Kaizer Chiefs player this season. Hlanti scored his only goal in their 4-2 defeat to Royal AM as he smashed in a close range free kick.
Foward players like the injured Samir Nurkovic have no league goals this season while Keagan Dolly has 2 goals in total for Chiefs but only 1 in the league, a goal that came via a penalty against Benni McCarthy’s AmaZulu in their 1-1 draw.
These stats show just how much work Stuart Baxter's men need to put in the training ground in terms of scoring goals. Sifiso Hlanti will be determined to add to his assist tally as he seemed to have cemented his place in Baxter's team.
