Confirmed || Sundowns R11.5-million Rated Attacker Is Struggling At The Club

Authenticated || Sundowns R11.5-million Rated Attacker Is Having a Hard Time at the Club.

When asked by the media, Mamelodi Sundowns co-coach Rulani Mokwena revealed that one of his attacking players was having difficulty finding enough playing time at the club due to injuries.

Mamelodi Sundowns has been the most dominant South African football team this season, reaching the quarter-finals of both the CAF Champions League and the Nedbank Cup, as well as sitting top of the DStv Premiership with a double-figure lead, and with an MTN8 title already for the season.

While the Mamelodi Sundowns lineup is full with excellent players, forward Gift Motupa has been on the sidelines for the duration of their success. Because of an injury, Motupa has been unable to play for the team, according to sources.

Because of his injuries, Motupa has only made three DStv Premiership appearances for the club so far this season, bringing his total for his time with the reigning league champions to just 11 outings in two seasons.

It's not expected that a player with a market value of 725 thousand euros (R11.5-million) would play so few games per season, but what else can a team do when an injured player keeps them from the field? He hopes to return before the current season ends so that he may play a role in the competitions that Sundowns is trying to win.

"Damaged is the gift. Injuries have taken a toll on him. He's in a bad spot. From a muscle standpoint, there is always a setback whenever we try to integrate him into the team. I'm confident he'll be back in time to help us out in the final stretch "According to Mokwena, she notified the media about the incident.
