Confirmed | Kaizer Chiefs To Release These 3 Players

According to a reputable source, Amakhosi will release the three defenders because they contributed little to the squad last season under ousted coach Gavin Hunt's leadership.

Kaizer Chiefs are expected to release left backs Philani Zulu, Siphosakhe Ntiya Ntiya, and Yagan Sasman in order to make room for newcomers.

Even though Zulu played for a few minutes in Chiefs' 3-0 loss to Egyptian giants Al Ahly in the Caf Champions League final in Morocco over the weekend, he is not expected to be in Stuart Baxter's plans for the upcoming season.

Last season, Zulu only started five league games, while Ntiya Ntiya has only appeared four times for the Chiefs. Since scoring twice to help Chiefs overcome Maritzburg United 2-1 in the MTN8 Cup quarter-finals in October last year, Sasman has been warming the bench.

After failing to sign experienced defender Sifiso Hlanti from Swallows FC last year due to Fifa's two-window transfer embargo, Amakhosi have already brought in veteran defender Sifiso Hlanti from Swallows FC to fill the vacuum in that post.

The Soweto giants have also signed left-footed defender Austin Dube from Richards Bay of the GladAfrica Championship.

“Zulu and Ntiya Ntiya's contracts will not be renewed,” a SunSport source said. “Both players failed to stamp their authority in the team last season, giving management no reasons to renew their contracts. That is why Hlanti was signed by the club.”

Despite the fact that Sasman's contract is set to expire at the end of the upcoming DStv Premiership season, SunSport has learned that he will be released to play elsewhere. Under Hunt, the former Ajax Cape Town defender appeared in only four games in all competitions, which is insufficient by Chiefs' standards.

“Sasman has been struggling to persuade the technical staff that he is Chiefs material,” the person explained.

“Last season, he only started two MTN8 games and one Telkom Knockout encounter while coming on as a substitute in the Premiership. This is why they want to let him go, despite the fact that his contract is still valid for another year.”

Bobby Motaung, Chiefs' football manager, said they still have a month to straighten out player contracts and have yet to make a firm decision on player relocation.

“We're still in Morocco, and we'll give the guys some recovery time,” Motaung added.

“When they return, we'll start talking about those issues. We'll make a statement once we've completed everything.”
