Edouard Mendy of Senegal and Chelsea has become the first African to win the FIFA Men's Best Award. The Senegalese International was honored on Monday after defeating Gianluigi Donnarumma of PSG and Manuel Neuer of Bayern Munich.

Mendy had a great year, keeping 27 clean sheets and conceding just 34 goals in 51 games. In the knockout stages of the Champions League, he only conceded two goals.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has used social media to promote the Senegalese goalie after he won the Best FIFA Men's Goalkeeper for 2021 on Monday.
"WORLD'S BEST," CAF tweeted.

The trophy solidifies the 29-year-position old's as one of the best goalkeepers in the world, capping a remarkable journey to the top of the game when he was playing in France's lower levels and pondering retirement only six years ago.
