[Transfer Talk] : Chiefs To Swoop For Maestro On Bosman DEAL?

Speculation has swirled in recent weeks that Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs are eyeing a surprise swoop for an overseas-based Bafana Bafana international after his relationship with his current employers has turned out for the worst.

Midfield maestro Bongani Zungu, who plies his trade at French Ligue 2 side Amiens, is touted for a potential move to the Naturena-based at the end of his contract in June 2022. Zungu has been consigned to the doldrums of first-team football due to contract-related disagreements with the club.

As of this season, he has not kicked a football and is reportedly training with the club's amateur side. With Chiefs having created notoriety for signing players on Bosman deals (free transfers), their interest in Zungu has been increasingly seconded by a certain South African-based agent, who lucidly explicated the mechanics which ensue when a player has made it a point to leave.

The 'agent' has indicated that Amiens head coach's seemingly reckless comments in which he questioned Zungu's fitness level was actually the last straw, and this in effect just obliterated any hopes for the 29-years old's potential comeback into the team.

"Bongani Zungu's contract ends in June 2022, and he will be unattached, and Amiens are certainly not going to renew his deal, the two parties have irreconcilable differences. The comment that was made by Amiens coach relating to his Zungu’s fitness opened a can of worms and worsened relations," the secret agent argued to Soccer Laduma.

Although the agent is supremely confident that Zungu will leave Amiens come the end of the season, he equally suggested that the former Mamelodi Sundowns star wouldn't be short of potential suitors in Europe, that's how good a footballer he is.

Similarly, the main issue that could scupper any such possible moves, could be the player's lack of playing activity in the previous 24 months or so, whereby he has played less.

"He may have the possibility of remaining in Europe, but considering his last two campaigns, and that he has not played even once this campaign, his representative will inevitably find it difficult to find him a new home in Europe. It is for this reason that he might consider coming back to the PSL, with speculation linking him to a move to Chiefs and that they have made an approach! Realistically, that possibility and one I would think he will consider strongly. Sundowns may show their hand also," he continued.

His tumultuous stint on loan move at Scottish giants Glasgow Rangers paled in comparison to what can offer as a footballer, and since last making an official appearance in April.

It is therefore one's opinion that Zungu is likely to head back to South Africa when his contract ends, and there is no doubt in one's mind that Chiefs have the resources as far as matching his hefty salary is concerned, Zungu currently earns in excess of €60 000 (R 985 970.47) per month, and surely Chiefs would not hesitate to fork out that.\

Zungu joined AMIENS in 2017 after successful 4 seasons at Downs where he won the Caf Champions league, and he made 59 appearances while scoring 3 goals in all competitions.

Do you think Chiefs are in pole position to swoop for the services of Zungu?
