Benni leaves CR7 with a "good" impression
Since being hired as the first-team coach at Manchester United under Erik ten Hag late last month, Benni McCarthy seems to be having an immediate influence at the renowned Carrington training facility.
According to reports from England over the weekend, Cristiano Ronaldo and other important players have praised the Bafana Bafana record goal scorer's training tactics and he has already gained popularity in the team's camp.
According to Daily Mail, McCarthy has been holding additional shooting drills in practice at Bruno Fernandes' request, while Ronaldo and recent additions Christian Eriksen and Lisandro Martinez have reportedly been "eager to get involved."
As United struggled to a humiliating 2-1 loss to Brighton & Hove Albion in their opening game of the season, with the Red Devils' goal coming in the shape of an own goal, Ten Hag will be hopeful that the 44-year-impact old's will quickly produce results.
McCarthy arrived to Old Trafford with a UEFA Pro License and experience as the head coach of AmaZulu in South Africa's DStv Premiership and Cape Town City, where he won the MTN 8 trophy.
In his prior playing career, he lasted six seasons in the Premier League, making 120 games while with Blackburn Rovers and West Ham United, scoring 37 goals in the process.
In his first season with Blackburn, he scored 18 goals, which helped him finish the 2006–07 season just two goals behind Golden Boot winner Didier Drogba and one ahead of Ronaldo in third place.
