Kaizer Chiefs star to return to Naturena?

At Stellenbosch's end-of-season awards presentation on Tuesday evening, Kwinika was named Players' Player of the Season and Footballer of the Season.

The 28-year-old received the prized trophies after an amazing season with Stellies, in which he participated in 26 of the club's 29 league matches and helped the team climb to fifth position in the DStv Premiership rankings.

After bestowing the Footballer of the Season title on Kwinika, head coach Steve Barker announced that the defender would return to Kaizer Chiefs at the end of the season.

After starting his career at the Amakhosi academy, he went on to Chippa United, Thanda Royal Zulu, and Bidvest Wits before joining Stellenbosch for the 2020/21 season.

Since then, he's made 56 appearances for the Cape Winelands-based squad, and while getting his award from Barker, he delivered a fitting farewell statement.

Kwinika said in part of his winning speech, "I came here as grapes, and I'll be ready to go as wine."

He is expected to make his final appearance for Stellenbosch on Saturday, when the club meets Cape Town City in the Cape Town derby at the Danie Craven Stadium.
