Football Club Barcelona president Joan Laporta has publicly maintained his support for the new proposed European Super League. As it stands, Barcelona and Real Madrid are the two clubs left in the thing, and Laporta wants to see it go ahead.
''We are keeping a prudent stance. It's a necessity, but our club members will have the final word''.
Unlike English football fans, Barcelona and Real Madrid supporters were not bashing the new league, hence they are not under pressure to withdraw. Laporta continued;
''It has to be an attractive competition, based on merit won on the field. We defend our National Leagues an open dialogue with UEFA''.
Real Madrid president Florentino Perez also has not given up despite the 10 founding clubs withdraw after backlash from the supporters.
