In the final of the Engen Cup in 2022, Kaizer Chiefs Football Club played against their biggest rival, Mamelodi Sundowns Football Club. This was expected to be one of the best games of the tournament, since these two teams always play their best when they play each other.
The two teams went into the match having won all five of their games in the tournament so far. They were expected to put on a good show for the crowd, since they had both scored goals in every game leading up to the final.
Chiefs started the game on top, just like they had in their last five games. They put pressure on Sundowns' defense for most of the first half, and Mabaso scored in the 16th minute to give Chiefs a 1-0 lead at the half.
The Brazilians tied the score in the second half, so the game went to penalties. The Chiefs won on penalties, so they won the 2022 ENGEN Cup.
