Messages pour in for Rhulani Mokwena.

Rulani Mokoena is one of the youngest brains in the coaching scenes of South African football. He is regarded by many as one for the future in our country.

Rulani Mokwena is the son of former Orlando Pirates player Julius Sono and nephew to Jomo Sono. He hails from a footballing family and he started his professional career in the youth ranks of Silver Stars now known as Platinum Stars. In 2014, he had his big break where he served as the assistant of Pitso Mosimane at Mamelodi Sundowns for a three year spell.

In 2017 he went to join Orlando Pirates where he served as the assistant to Milutin Sredojevic. In 2019 he was announced as the interim coach of the Buccaneers following the departure of Sredojevic. He later returned to his former role when Orlando Pirates announced the signing of Josef Zinnbauer.

In March 2020 he served as the interim coach of Chippa United and would later rejoin Mamelodi Sundowns. He is currently part of the Sundowns trio of coaches with Head Coach Manqoba Mngqithi and Senior Coach Steve Komphela.

As of today the 8th of January 2021, Messages have been pouring in for Mokwena from football fans and the football fraternity as he celebrates his 34th birthday.
