Former Sundowns coach wants to take over the Soweto giants hot seat


There’s always someone after your occupation whether you like it or not, one mistake and they utilize that opportunity. Clubs chop and change their technical teams in hope that they will get the desired results. After all, clubs want positive results that will lead them closer to their mandates. If a coach doesn’t live up to the high expectations, chances are he will be released. Club management doesn’t want to live in a dream that one day the coach will do what is required of him and that’s to deliver the goods. Now, it has been reported that the former Mamelodi Sundowns coach Gordon Igesund has shown interest in joining Swallows FC.

This follows after the Dube Birds put their head coach Brandon Truter on “special leave” and that has left his position vacant. As one of the best teams in the Premier Soccer League, many coaches have sent their curriculum vitaes as they want Truter’s position. It won’t be an occupation for any coach as it comes with a lot of pressure. Even worse, things didn’t go well for Truter after he lost 3-0 against SuperSport United in the DStv Premiership clash which has pushed him on the edge within the Soweto giants. “It’s crazy, just a few hours after Truter was placed on special leave, many coaches have since applied for the coaching position at Swallows,” said the club source talking to

Within the names that have popped up was Igesund who has been out of coaching in the PSL for the past couple of seasons, following his stint with Highlands Park. Even though the Swallows FC chairman David Mogashoe has stated before that Truter isn’t leaving the club. “It’s not only local coaches but also international coaches who are applying.
