Many players including former players, Fans and some coaches have voiced their concerned over what is happening at Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs. They are breaking records for being the fallen kings of South African Football. It's been 7years since they last tested a major silverware. Kaizer Motaung Senior even postponed their 50 year anniversary after failing to win the league last season. Things haven't been going according to plan and they have now brought in a high respected coach in Gavin Hunt whose a serial winner. Even though his been brought in to change the fortune of the team, things have turn to be worse as they struggled again to beat a small team in their clash of Nedbank cup.
Former player Robson Muchichwa is not impressed at all with the way things have been unfolding at his beloved team. Mashamplani as he was known in the football fraternity says the current crop of players have proven they are not Chiefs material. They are expected to undergo a squad overhaul next season, but Rob warns the club bosses to make their decision carefully to benefit the team. He told Ready Sports that he is disappointed with Ntshangase and Ntiya-Ntiya and believe they have failed every time they are given opportunity to shine
'' Ya I think it's where they need to take care of the situation because sometimes you can say you are taking care of things, then you are killing it dead. They need a very clear transition you know in terms of players. For me most of these players need to go. Most of the current squad who are there, they need to go. They don't deserve to be there. It's not who are saying it, they have proven they don't deserve to be there. They don't know how to play for a big team, for right now we are stuck with a bunch of players who don't deserve the Kaizer Chiefs jersey. Yes a transition is needed but we have to be clever about it, we must not do with emotion though,'' Muchinchwa told KICKOFF.COM reporters. Do you think overhauling the entire squad will help the Glamour boys back to the old days of winning trophies, let me know.
Since Hunt came in the team has been in their worst performance in their history. The likes of Willard Katsande have been benched, seen little game time. Reports coming out of Soccer Ladumaa sources are that their Captain Itumeleng Khune and Bernard Parker wants to leave the club if he doesn’t get game time. “ You have to remember that things are bad at the moment at Kaizer Chiefs, but as soon as the ban it’s over they will back Gavin to buy all the players he need and let some old guard leave. But it remains to be seen if he will get all the guys he truly need. Remember all the top quality top notch high profile players are with big teams with contracts. So it won’t be easy,” Said the Soweto giants source who wanted to remain unknown.
