President Edgar Lungu has hailed Chipolopolo striker Fashion Sakala who has signed a pre contract to join Scottish champions Glasgow Rangers FC led by former Liverpool and England legend Steven Gerrard from KV Oostende of Belgium.
In a congratulatory message posted on his facebook page, Lungu said Sakala’s move to Glasgow Rangers is a huge boostto the Zambia national team.
“Let me congratulate Zambian striker Fashion Sakala jnr for joining Rangers FC of Scotland. This is a huge step in your career and a positive gain to our national team.
“I hope you learn more skills from the tuition of Liverpool great Steven Gerrard. We look forward to watching you in the Champions League,” Lungu said on his social media account.
Responding to the post from the President, Sakala said, “Thank you so much your excellency and I really appreciate your support it means a lot to me.”
The former Zanaco and Nchanga Rangers striker has penned a four-year deal at the newly-crowned Scottish champions and will join up with his new team-mates in summer.
The 24 year old 2017 Under-20 AFCON winner has been in a decent form for Oostende scoring 13 league goals this season, a tally that has seen him on the radar of a number of club in Europe.
