The goalkeeping division at Kaizer Chiefs is solid to such an extent that Bafana mentor Hugo Broos disputably chose Bruce Bvuma and Brandon Petersen from a similar group when he picked his primer crew this week.
Bvuma and Petersen are in the 37-man Bafana crew from which Broos will choose his crew for the impending Caf Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifiers against Morocco and Zimbabwe.
To this end Bvuma says he feels honored to be working with his young life legend Itumeleng Khune, Daniel Akpeyi and Petersen.
"For me to get the valuable chance to play is a gift, that is number one," said Bvuma this week. "I'm thankful for the open door since I am contending with the best here at Chiefs… The mentors continued advising me to continue to work on the grounds that my opportunity would come," adds the 26-year-old guardian.
"I needed to ensure that I continue to work and prepared for whenever my opportunity comes. We have four great and skilled attendants who on any day can go out there and finish the work assuming the mentor picks them. It was significant for me that while I was pausing, I really buckled down."
Having grown up supporting Chiefs, Bvuma knew the club's great history of having the top attendants and he realized he would need to strive to get a search in.
"I knew when I came to Chiefs that the opposition would be intense… And at the present time we have Daniel, Brandon and Itu - these are internationals. It takes a great deal of difficult work, tolerance and time also. I realized it would be difficult however I continued to buckle down.
"I'm glad that now I get my opportunity and I am playing. All I need to do now is continue to try sincerely and prepare sure that I am dependably.
"These are worldwide goalkeepers so I feel honored working with them, going through every day with them. Somebody like Itu, I have looked as I was growing up and I have for practically forever needed to be close to him. Now that I am offered a chance to gain from him consistently, it is a gift. I appreciate working with them."
