Cameroon is through to the semi-finals after defeating Gambia, Have look at the highlights
2022 AFCON host Cameroon is through to the semi-finals after defeating Gambia by 2-0 in the quarter-final. Vincent Aboubeker, a top goalscorer so far in the competition failed to convert one yesterday, but gave Gambian defense a very hard time.
The Cameroon striker is currently sitting on 6 goals and scored in every game he played besides yesterday's game. It's difficult to predict a national team that will walk away with the 2022 AFCON, but Cameroon is likely to reach the finals after yesterday's performance.
In the first 20 minutes of the game, Vincent Aboubeker was denied a goal twice by the Gambian goalkeeper. Cameroon was controlling the game from the first whistle to the end. The Gambians game approach didn't work well for them as they started by defending as to catch Cameroon on counter-attacks. Their plan was not executed appropriately as Cameroon had the full control of the game, but second half they tried to make those one or two attempts on goals.
Cameroon's goals came from the right flank, a cross from C. Fai and converted by K. Toko Enkambi on the 50 minutes of the game. The second goal also scored by Enkambi on the 57 minutes after the Gambia was caught sleeping during the game.
Vincent Aboubeker gave Gambian defense a very hard time as he almost scored in the dying minutes of the game. He collected the ball on the far corner and forced himself through defenders but his attempt got blocked by Gambian defender. After an incredible performance for Gambia in previous matches, but it was the end of their journey in yesterday's game. Congratulations to the 2022 AFCON host Cameroon for reaching the semi-finals.
