Unexpected: Mfundo Vilakazi spotted training with Chiefs' first team

Unexpected: Mfundo Vilakazi spotted training with Chiefs' first team.

The rise of Kaizer Chiefs Football Club youngsters in the last three seasons has been one of the few things that people have positively spoken about when it comes to the club in the last seven-plus years, as the Naturena-based club has found winning trophies a difficult task the last seven-plus years.

While struggling to find a sufficient squad that will break the long trophyless they are currently under, the club has found a way to produce players that are meant for greatness, as their development structure has managed to produce the likes of Sabelo Radebe, Nkosingiphile Ngcobo, Given Thibedi, Siphosakhe NtiyaNtiya, Siyabonga Ngezana, Happy Mashiane, Njabulo Blom, and more others over the last five seasons.

This season has not been any different as the club managed to promote four players and send them out on loan at the beginning of the season, with two of them(Thabo Mokoena and Keletso Sifama) returning in January to be handed new long contracts at the club, and that has seen several players in the reserve league up their performance and knock on the senior team door.

One of the youngsters that are knocking hard on the senior team door is their wonderkid, Mfundo Vilakazi who only arrived at the club this January and has set the reserve league alight with his eyes for goals as well as his superb trickery on the ball.

The 16-year-old looks to have finally found his big break as yesterday he was spotted with his some of his reserve side teammates training with the senior team.

I think this is the news almost every Chiefs fan would have wanted to hear the moment the club announced the signing of Mfundo, as many felt he reminded them of their late superstar, Asanda "Scara" Ngobese.

For me, the Chiefs coaching staff and management are wise because they know that giving the youngsters a chance while they are still young will help the club and the youngsters in the future.
