Opinion - Are Mamelodi Sundowns really about to spend R11.1 million to sign midfielder Sipho Mbule?

Although for now the transfer window has come to pass and all potential transfer business seems to be on hold just for now

It cannot be completely ignored that during the transfer window one of the biggest transfer sagas took place here in South African Football before the start of the season

And that particular transfer saga involved SuperSport United midfield maestro Sipho Mbule who had attracted interest from the biggest clubs in South African Football particularly Mamelodi Sundowns & Kaizer Chiefs

It is worth noting that whenever Mamelodi Sundowns are involved in a transfer saga they always come out on top because they are most willing to pay whatever any other team is not willing to pay

But curiously in the case of Sipho Mbule it seemed that Kaizer Chiefs were the ones leading the chase for the highly rated SuperSport United midfield maestro

There was even a suggestion at one point that Kaizer Chiefs had even agreed personal terms with Sipho Mbule as the midfield himself was thought to be very much keen on signing for the Glamour Boys

But as time went by it seemed clear that Sipho Mbule was not going to leave SuperSport United

With those rumors even being put to bed by his agent Mike Makaab who revealed Kaizer Chiefs would have to directly approach SuperSport United if they wanted to sign him

Subsequently after Stuart Baxter himself also revealed that the potential signing of Sipho Mbule would probably be too expensive for Kaizer Chiefs

And what finally put an end to a potential move for Sipho Mbule away from SuperSport United was the fact that the player was given a new number for the upcoming season as he took on the club's number 10 shirt

But most recently as well there were widespread reports that Mamelodi Sundowns were now the ones heavily linked with signing Sipho Mbule & unlike Kaizer Chiefs they don't beat around the bush in these type of situations

Although it would also be wise for Mamelodi Sundowns to understand that if indeed they are interested in signing Sipho Mbule it would reportedly take a blockbuster R11.1 million to sign him
