Good news: Finally Swallows FC have appointed a new coach

Swallows have been having difficulties and poor performance under control of Brandon Truter as they were dropping points frequently.

Dylan Kerr has been named as the new head coach of Swallows FC, succeeding Brandon Truter.

Kerr joins the Soweto side just two days since they decided to part ways with Truter, who left the team in the Premier Soccer League's relegation zone.

Following rumors that Gordon Igesund, Gavin Hunt, Milutin Sredojevic, and Wedson Nyirenda were in the running for the role, club chairman David Magashoa revealed the 64-year-appointment. old's

The Englishman's mission now is to save the Swallows from relegation, as they are now bottom of the table with eight points from 12 league matches. Marumo Gallants and Baroka FC have the same amount of points as them.

They're also not too far behind TS Galaxy and Chippa United, both of whom have nine and ten points.

Kerr is on his fourth season in the PSL, previously having managed Baroka FC, Black Leopards, and Marumo Gallants, who won the Nedbank Cup last season.

Kerr's having joined the Dube Birds brings an end to a five-month stint of unemployment.

With the mid-season transfer window less than a couple of months away, it's unclear which players Kerr will bring in to help them stay alive.

Goalkeepers Jody February and Virgil Vries, Ruzaigh Gamildien, Musa Nyatama, captain Lebohang Mokoena, Thabo Matlaba, and experienced defender Vuyo Mere are among the players he receives.

Truter, Kerr's predecessor, led a team from the National First Division back to the Premier League while turning them into a PSL title contender last season.

Swallows got off to a strong start this season, hoping to improve on last year's performance by knocking Orlando Pirates from the MTN8 and then defeating Royal AM in their league opener.

They've been on an 11-game losing streak since then.

Truter's tenure at Maswaiswai came to an end last weekend when he lost a league game to Kaizer Chiefs.

On Saturday, Kerr's debut game as Swallows manager is anticipated to be against Maritzburg United.
