How Prestigious Local Players Could Benefit From R12.2 Billion Takeover

R12 Billion takeover by American-Based could benefit SA Players

A number of regional players could profit from the coup, which saw the American agency CAA complete one of the largest agency takeovers in history. The ICM group was successfully acquired by CAA (Creative Artists Agency), according to Deadline.com, in what has been labeled the largest talent agency acquisition since 2009.

The decision, which had been in the works for nine months, was made on June 28 and was approved by the American Department of Justice.

The action could significantly help a number of young players in the area. Siyavuma Sports Group, a top local sports agency, has a strategic connection with CAA Base London and has led the way in player moves to Europe over the past ten years, relocating athletes like Keagan Dolly, Gift Links, Siyanda Xulu, and most recently, to the beaches of Europe, to the Pyramids. Paul Mitchell, managing director of SSG, was contacted by the Siya team to inquire about the potential effects of the merger on the regional game.

Clients of SSG may benefit from this merger since they would have a network throughout Africa and Europe that was already established.

It's fantastic news for CAA as a group and especially for the football arm, CAA BASE, with whom we have had a long-standing joint venture relationship, working together on a number of deals in Europe and always looking collectively, to grow the African game and deliver opportunities for players from the continent, as we have shown consistently over the last ten years, as well as jointly seeking commercial opportunities along the way, said Mitchell.

The same The doors of opportunity may open abroad once more for people like Reeve Frosler, who was rumored to be moving to the Major League Soccer, Evidence Makgopa, who received two offers from Denmark, Rowan Human, who spent time on Maccabi Tel Aviv's roster, and more recently Rushwin Dortley of Cape Town Spurs, who is departing for Europe on Tuesday.
