Sundowns have confirmed they have been hit by a ‘flu outbreak’, with the situation being closely monitored ahead of two key matches.
Twilights were set to play a last DStv Premiership match against Royal AM on Monday after this match must be deferred on Saturday because of a waterlogged pitch.
This Saturday, the association victors are then set to handle Marumo Gallants in the Nedbank Cup last as they go in quest for a notable homegrown 'high pitch'.
However, there is presently genuine worry in the camp after a disease flare-up was affirmed on Monday.

Following the postponement of Mamelodi Sundowns DSTV Premiership match at Chatsworth Stadium due to rain, the Club has experienced an outbreak flu which has affected the majority of its players.
Considering the symptoms, which are of a respiratory nature and affect almost the entire squad, the club is ensuring that all the necessary steps are taken to safeguard the players and everyone that they interact with on-and-off the field.
Dr Carl Tabane, Mamelodi Sundowns team doctor said “The players are being tested for the full flu-panel that includes influenza, COVID-19, RSV PCR to establish the exact cause of the symptoms. In recent weeks, the country has witnessed an overlap in all these 3 viruses, and it is crucial that we conduct the testing as they present similar signs and symptoms. We continue to follow the necessary precautions.”
The club is committed to fielding its strongest available team this afternoon as it closes out the 2021/22 DSTV Premiership.
Recently, the Premier Soccer League (PSL) confirmed the rescheduled dates and times for last weekend’s two postponed DStv Premiership fixtures.
