Cape Town City are set to make their CAF Champions League debut this coming season following a second place finish in the DSTV Premiership, but their ambitions may be cut short due to CAF rule change.

The new rules indicate that only coaches with CAF license and experience can be allowed to coach in the tournament and that is something the Cape Town City coach Eric tinkler does not have. This now means the South African born coach is restricted from guiding the Citizens through the tournament.
This new ruling did not please the president of the club John Comitis. What the way forward is remains a mystery and it is something the club president will have to address as early as possible.
If the club does not find someone to stand in for Eric Tinkler, Cape Town City might be faced with the uncertainty of having to forfeit their matches and concede their chances of African exposure.
