Free State Stars has signed former Polokwane City Defender Sicelokuhle Hlatshwayo. Sicelo is originally from KwaZulu-Nata in Newcastle. He was born on the 27th of April 1994. The talented footballer started training with Free State stars on Friday. It has been rumoured that Mamelodi Sundowns also had their eyes glued on Sicelo and wanted to sign him for the position of the late Motjeka Madisha.
According to soccer Laduma, Mamelodi Sundowns has been in search for a replacement of Motjeka Madisha who unfortunately passed on in December 2020, as much as they have managed to sign Maritzburg United centre back Rushine De Reuck on a five-year contract, they were still willing to sign the talented 26-year old Sicelokuhle Hlatshwayo. However, since the player is on Sundowns target list he has signed short term contract with the Free State Stars.
As young as he is, Sicelokuhle has had a joyful journey in the football industry. He started playing for Amazulu Juniors back in 2011. He then left AmaZulu Juniors in 2015 to play for Mthatha Bucks. In 2016 he played for Black Aces. The in 2017 he played for AmaZulu Senior team. Still pursuing his career further he was signed by Jomo Cosmos in 2018. Sicelo joined Polokwane City in January 2020 and played for the team until 2021. He has recently been signed by Free State Stars and have started training with them.
A great journey it has been for Sicelo, and we truly wish him all best of luck on his new soccer team and all the success throughout his entire career.
