In the past years, we have seen the likes of Percy Tau, Bongani Zungu, Hendrick Ekstein, Keagan Dolly and some other players moving to Europe in order to achieve their dreams. However many have found it hard to adapt abroad.
Here are the players that are playing in Europe at the moment:
1. Keagan Dolly
The former Mamelodi Sundowns and Ajax Cape town midfielder has been at Montpelier who are participating in the French Ligue 1 for some time now, however, he is yet to cement his place in the club as he is used as a spare. The player hardly play 90 minutes if he is named in the starting lineup.
2. Percy Tau
The Lion of Judah joined the English Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion from Mamelodi Sundowns in 2018. But, due to work permit issues, he was forced to be loaned elsewhere in order to adapt to the European football.
At the beginning of this year, the player finally got his work permit and was recalled from the Belgian side Anderlecht in order to help his parent club survive the relegation zone. But since his arrival, he has not been a regular starter for the club.
3. Bongani Zungu
The KwaDukuza born star has been in Europe for almost five years now, but he is yet to win a silverware with the three clubs that he has played for. But the 28-year old is now few games away from winning the Scottish league with his current club Rangers.
Even though he will lift the Scottish league with the former Liverpool captain Steve Gerrard, but Zungu contributed a little in the club's success this season. The player has been introduced around 80 minutes by the manager this season.
4. Lebo Mothiba
The former Mamelodi Sundowns development striker has been in Europe since 2015. The Bafana Bafana striker joined the Lille development team in order to develop as a player. However, the club loaned him to the French Ligue 2 side Valenciennes.
The club sold him to Strasbourg in 2018, and it has not been one of the best moves for the player due to injuries, but he has managed to make more than 50 appearances for the club.
5. Dean Furman
The former SuperSport United captain surprised many people last year when he left the Tshwane side for Carlisle United, who are currently participating in League Two in England. League Two in England is the 4th division.
6. Lyle Foster
Many might remember the 20-year old as the striker who was one of the most promising players in the country. He got a chance to play for the French Ligue 1 giants AS Monaco. However, he did not spend much time in club as he was loaned to the Belgian side Cercle Brugge in 2019, a year after joined AS Monaco.The player is now in Portugal playing for Vitória Guimaraes, but he is finding it hard to adapt.
