Premier Soccer League match referee Luxolo Badi is arguably the luckiest official in the game. Badi was in charge of officiating in the Orlando Pirates vs Kaizer Chiefs Clash on 30 January 2021 at the FNB Stadium.

On the day most would feel he awarded Kaizer Chiefs a soft penalty and also still most of his decisions on the day were biased.

The talking point of the match was when the match referee failed to award Pirates a penalty when Njabulo Blom fouled Vincent Pule. Badi would also give cautions to three Orlando Pirates players who were contesting his decision.

Reigning Referee of the Season Jelly Chavani was suspended for four weeks after failing to award Orlando Pirates a penalty in a match against Swallows FC. Chavani has since served his suspension period.

The SAFA Review Committee has since investigated the matter and a report has since not been issued almost three weeks after the incident occurred. At this stage we still not sure if Badi will be suspended following the failure to award Pirates the penalty. Hence without a doubt Luxolo Badi is the luckiest official in the game as he is still officiating.
