Pirates closing in on next signing

Orlando Pirates are in advanced talks with Akwa United to sign Nigerian international defender Olisa Ndah before the transfer market close. After a poor start to the 2021/22 season, the Pirates, who are without a permanent head coach following Josef Zinnbauer's unexpected departure, are in the midst of finalizing their market deals.

The Buccaneers are in advanced talks to sign the highly-rated 23-year-old who won the Nigerian Professional Football League last season, with the transfer market officially closing on August 31. According to, the club's technical team was satisfied with his abilities during his examination earlier this month, and a definitive deal with his representatives might be reached by next week.

Nadh is highly regarded after winning back-to-back NPFL Team of the Year awards and making his Super Eagles debut against Mexico in April this year under Gernot Rohr. He is one of the most intriguing defenders to come from Nigeria's top flight in recent years, standing 1.90 meters tall and possessing remarkable technical ability with either foot as a natural ball-playing defender.

Happy Jele, Ntsikelelo Nyauza, Thulani Hlatshwayo, Kwanda Mngonyama, Sandile Mthethwa, and Thabo Sesane are the current central defensive alternatives for the Soweto giants.

At the moment, only Ghana goalkeeper Richard Ofori and Zimbabwe international Terrence Dzvukamanja have foreign quota seats, with Kwame Peprah's impending arrival bringing the total number of foreign quota spots to three out of five.

Deon Hotto of Namibia and Gabadinho Mhango of Malwai are both registered as locals after spending more than five years in South Africa.

Olisa Harold Ndah is a Nigerian professional footballer who plays as a centre-back for Nigerian Professional Football League club Akwa United and the Nigeria national team.

Should he sign, Ndah will compete with the likes of Happy Jele, Thulani Hlatshwayo and Ntsikelelo Nyauza among others at Pirates.

His possible signing could also spell an end to rumours that Pirates may sign Nkosinathi Sibisi from Golden Arrows.
