Mamelodi Sundowns have edged Anderlecht in signing Mokoena

Mamelodi Sundowns have edged Anderlecht in signing Teboho Mokoena from SuperSport United.

The Brazilians have beaten a lot of teams for red hot Bafana Bafana international, but a move to Anderlecht would have been a most preferred move but not to Mokoena whom Sundowns were able to convince.

The move was made public by the player's Agent Glyn Binkin who has said that the player has given an indication about his future, after agreeing terms with the Brazilians for a January move.

The player's agent says the player is happy with the offer Sundowns have shown and as such the player has agreed on terms with the club, what is left now is the Mamelodi Sundowns and SuperSport United to conclude the transfer fee of the player so he can start his career at Chloorkop before the current transfer window ends.

THERE IS AN AGREEMENT BETWEEN SUNDOWNS AND MOKOENA

The player agent Glyn Binkin who enjoys a good relationship with Sundowns, after having sold most of the players in his stable to Sundowns.

Binkin says they have agreed personal terms with Sundowns and not it's up to the club's over a fee discussion. Both teams are from Tshwane and have concluded business in the past.

Reports were made Thursday that Anderlecht tabled an offer of R20 million, offer which Mamelodi Sundowns topped with an extra R5 million to make it a R25 Million.

Initially SuperSport United made it clear that they were not interested in signing with local teams but that Sundowns offer has made them to change their minds.

WHY MOKOENA CHOSE SUNDOWNS AHEAD OF ANDERLECHT

Glyn Binkin confirmed that there has been interest from clubs in Europe, he also says it is difficult to get transfers overseas with these current covid conditions.

Talking about financial issues, Binkin says clubs are picky onto which type of player they now want which makes it difficult to sign for teams abroad.

“Anderlecht have made an inquiry and we will speak to them to hear their position. They have been tracking Teboho for a while so know what a quality player he is,” - Glyn Binkin.
