In modern football, there are a number of players in the PSL's top flight who decided to give up the game altogether after a few years of plying their trade.
In some cases, it has proven to be one of the most excellent decisions as a rare few become a success in their alternative career path.
In the history of the PSL, former Jomo Cosmos Youth player Thabani Bhengu is one of the known footballers in the country who walked away from the game completely at the age of 20, only to become an overnight success. In his case, the KZN born footballer decided venture into farming.
Making the transition, the former footballer turned farmer leased large hectares of land outside of his hometown province in Weneen which is owned by the Ingonyama Trust Fund. The one time wonderkid at the Jomo Cosmos Development Academy started off by growing fresh produce on his farm which he now supplies to locals and to the leading retail outlets through his company, Ndela Farming.
A few years after having discovered his true calling in life, Thabani Bhengu then decided to venture into cattle farming. On Wednesday, the KZN born retired footballer has decided to take to his Instagram stories to show off his cattle herd. From the shared pictures on the popular platform, it is evident that Thabani Bhengu owns way over 50 cattle on his farm.
In addition, in some of the shared pictures on Thabani Bhengu's Instagram stories, the former footballer turned farmer decided to share glimpses inside the cattle auction which he recently had on his farm. As of late, we have since had the privilege to learn that during the auction a cattle is priced per kilogram.
With that much said, it is safe to say that the product of the Jomo Cosmos Youth Academy has scored a winning goal in farming.
