Broos voices out special praise for one of Sundowns' top midfielders.

Bafana head coach Hugo Broos has had some special praise for Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Mothobi Mvala following his recent displays on the field of play. The 69 year old was impressed with what he saw in Mothobi Mvala, and says he is a very salient player in his squad.

The Sundowns central midfielder missed the second game against Ethiopia after scoring in the first game away from home because of an injury.

“Mothobi Mvala becomes a very important player for us on the midfield, and that you saw in the game here in Joburg against Ethiopia, he was not there due to injury, but we missed him,”

“And he became a very important figure, he is a type of payer you don’t find so much, he is a real defensive midfielder for me. He can play the ball, he can give out a good pass, he is strong, he is top.

“So for me, the ideal type to play on that position, and therefore I put him there. In his team he plays a bit different. But for me, the guy is the lock on the door. And when he does not play, you feel it, we felt it against Ethiopia."

Despite winning the games, it shows that Broos feels they could have been more dominant with the presence of Mvala.

“This is another good situation, I gave him the full confidence, because I thought that he could do it, and he did it."

“So now I think he is confident enough, more confident than the month ago when it was the first time. Because Mothobi is not someone who speaks a lot, he is a quiet man. So he is a bit introvert."

“But when you see him on the field, the contrary, so I like him very much, and certainly on the position on he plays in the Bafana squad.” -Hugo Broos
