Phelelani Mpangase, a former Mamelodi Sundowns and SuperSport United defender, has revealed his thoughts on the PSL Big Three's player movements.
"On Deadline Day, I believe a lot was expected, but I was anticipating Kambole to be loaned out because he wasn't used much at the team. Kaizer Chiefs did well in their transfer (business), and they now have a strong team capable of winning any trophy "Mpangase informed the Siya team.
"They've done a good job of loaning those young players to give them a chance to shine and receive game time elsewhere. Kaizer Chiefs have done a wonderful job."
Mpangase was surprised by Kekana's departure from Sundowns, as he expected Orlando Pirates to focus on defenders rather than the signings of Kwame Peprah and Olisa Ndah.
In terms of Mamelodi Sundowns, it was shocking that a player like Hlompho Kekana could be let go so easily - a player who, in my opinion, still had a lot to offer the team and was a dedicated servant of the game. I had hoped he would stay with the club.
"Despite their large team, I don't think it was a good idea to release him. Knowing him at SuperSport United, he can fight in any situation and has demonstrated that."
"The 'Pirates' haven't been doing well, but they've signed good players and are capable of accomplishing anything." Even though I felt their biggest challenge has been in defense, these new strikers... one hopes they will help them," he added.
